Internal Bifold and Concertina Doors

Our internal bi-fold doors are a stylish and practical way to maximise your living space for the whole family. They work particularly well in a large open space, where single or double doors just won’t cut it, and multiple panels of folding doors are also an ideal, space-saving option for large wardrobes.

Part of our innovative Zone Living range, our internal bi-fold doors are designed to give you more flexibility and control over your space. When you want to embrace the benefits of open plan living, or entertain a crowd, simply fold the doors away and open up your home. If you need more privacy or a smaller, more intimate space, you can close off an area in an instant. Having the option to divide a large open space into more usable smaller areas also makes your rooms easier and cheaper to heat and cool.

Bi-fold doors can be a great solution for large wardrobes, or smaller rooms where space is limited. When you don’t have the area available for a swinging door, bi-folding panels can be pushed to one side without eating into your usable floor space. Our timber bi-folds, in the effortless Shaker style, offer both solid and glazed options, including translucent glass if you don’t want your storage on display. Available in selected stores.

Bi-folds with a French twist

Our Ashfield range of timber bi-fold doors allows you to separate your living areas when it suits you, while the addition of glass lets light filter through from room to room. These French-style glazed bi-folds add a distinctive elegance and charm to your interior, as well as giving you flexibility to make the most of your space.

A breath of fresh air

For wardrobes and storage, as well as small spaces such as pantries, our timber Louvre bi-folds combine convenience, practicality and style. The bi-fold configuration is ideal for tight spaces, and the half or full slatted louvre design encourages airflow to avoid stuffiness. This is also an excellent choice for laundries, allowing air circulation even when the doors are closed.

FAQ

Internal bifold doors consist of two or more panels that are hinged in the centre and fold to one side to open. Multiple pairs can be joined together for a wider opening (2, 4 6 or 8), and these are called multifolds.

Internal bifold doors are designed for openings where there isn't a lot of space for a standard hinged door to swing open, such as a small bathroom, en suite, or a laundry room where space is restricted. Bifolds doors can also be custom made to close off larger open plan living areas when it suits you, giving greater control over heating, cooling and noise transference between rooms.

Bifold doors are made from a variety of materials and construction options. These include Pacific Ash timber, with or without glass, MDF with a hollow core construction, or MDF with a semi solid construction. We also offer the Shaker series, which is a Solid Joinery construction, and our Zone Living range of bifold doors are made from aluminium

Depending on the style and range you choose, internal bifold doors are available in standard widths of 920, 870, 820, 770, 720 and 620 mm. The standard height is 2040 mm, while some ranges also offer 2340 mm.

Bifold doors can be used throughout the interior of the home, but most commonly they are used for doorways where space is limited for a swinging door. Custom made bifolds can also be installed into open plan areas to close off living spaces and create separate rooms.

Internal bifold doors are constructed from two or more timber panels that are hinged together in the centre and slide along a track to open. Concertina doors are commonly made from PVC and fold multiple times in small sections.
