Mirrors where you least expect them

Bathroom doors must balance style with practicality, and one of the best ways to do this is with mirrored panels. Mirrors help to lighten and lift the room, as well as serving a practical function. Our Reflections collection incorporates mirrored options into a wide range of door styles, and you can choose to have mirrored panels on one or both faces of the door.

To glaze or not to glaze?

Solid panelled doors are a popular option for bathrooms, for maximum privacy, but we also offer many glazed styles. Using frosted glass is a great way to allow light into small bathrooms and ensuites, without compromising your privacy.

Insulation is a key consideration for bathrooms, so you should think about the material and construction of your doors. Our Vogue range offers excellent insulation qualities when compared to hollow core alternatives, and we also have a wide collection of engineered timber styles.

Water, water everywhere

Of course, water is unavoidable in bathroom areas, so it’s important to choose doors that can stand up to moisture and won’t warp or rot. Our aluminium Zone Living doors make an excellent choice for bathrooms and ensuites as they are strong, resilient and water-resistant.

FAQ

When choosing a bathroom door, you need to think about space, style and function. You should consider what kind of door will fit and function well in your space, and what you want from your door in terms of privacy, convenience and resilience.
It may be that your space is too restricted for a hinged door, whereas a sliding or bi-fold door would be more practical. Glass panels can help to uplift smaller, darker bathrooms and en suites by maximising the flow of light between rooms, and translucent glass is a good choice for maintaining privacy. Our Vogue Acoustic doors have a thick MDF skin that offers superior sound insulation when compared with standard hollow core doors. Because of the inevitable high moisture and humidity of a bathroom, you may want to consider a Nova internal door, with its easy to clean melamine skin, or a Zone Living door in either the hinged or bi-fold options, which features an aluminum frame and double glazed glass panels.

The material and construction of your bathroom doors mostly depends on the style of your home and the aesthetic you want to achieve. Each of these materials offers its own benefits and there are traditional and modern designs to choose from, whichever construction type you go for.
Wooden doors add warmth and character, and can be supplied raw or stained. Composite construction can be a more economical option, and gives a smooth finish that can be pre-primed or painted white. Aluminium is durable and resilient, and well-suited to a contemporary style, with double glazed panels and a thin aluminium frame.

The most common internal door opening is 2040 mm high and 820 mm wide. However, framework can shift over time, so when you are retro-fitting doors into existing doorways they may need to be trimmed for a neat fit.
That’s why all of our internal doors are designed with a trimmable timber frame, which allows the door to be shaved and trimmed to fit into an existing door frame.

Depending on the design of your bathroom, you may require two access doors. It may be that you have one door to the main bathroom and another to the toilet, or that you have a Jack and Jill bathroom that sits between two bedrooms.
Whatever the reason, you want to choose bathroom doors that don’t waste any of the limited floor space and that work within the decor of the home.

Bathroom doors can be configured in many different ways to work for your space and requirements. When researching which door would work best in your bathroom, your considerations should include how much space you have, and whether there are any obstructions to the functionality of the door.
You can choose single or double hinged doors, but bi-folding doors are a great option for smaller spaces. We also offer sliding door options, where the door slides along the wall on a tracking system. The Glengary range of barn doors and tracks is a great example of a sliding bathroom door that also makes a style statement.

The type of hinges you choose will depend on the configuration of your doors. Bi-fold doors require bi-fold hinges so that the doors can fold in the middle, and swinging hinged doors use a standard 85 mm. As the bathroom is classed as a wet area, stainless steel hinges are recommended.
